Our Story
From a kitchen table
to Highgate's heart.
Hilltop began as a dream, formed around Kathleen Basye's kitchen table. A busy working mum, she managed her husband's business there while training to become a beauty therapist.
In 1980, she qualified and found premises — a former children's clothes shop — in green and leafy Highgate. With help from her family, she converted the shop into a much loved local salon.
Nestled for forty years in the heart of Highgate village, Hilltop has grown and flourished. Now owned and managed by Kathleen's daughter Amanda, we offer advanced skin care and beauty treatments in our extended premises and new luxurious treatment rooms.
Following family tradition, Amanda's daughters Vanessa and Hannah have also joined the team. Together, these three generations have created a lasting yet ever evolving business that has become a vital part of the Highgate community.

Salon Director
At the core of Hilltop stands Amanda, a seasoned skin therapist with over three decades of dedication. She began as a receptionist at 14, steadily rising through the ranks with unyielding passion and expertise. Amanda excels in treating various skin concerns, tailoring solutions for each client. While no longer administering treatments, her expertise shapes the salon's operations and its enduring spirit.
Vanessa Basye
Salon Manager
Vanessa's roots at Hilltop run deep, her connection to the salon a part of her life since childhood. At just 14 she began as a receptionist, igniting a passion for the beauty industry instilled by her grandmother and founder Kathy. As salon manager, Vanessa prioritises client care and actively upholds the salon's strong community presence.
Hannah Basye
Therapist
With a natural flair for beauty passed down through generations, Hannah began her journey here as a receptionist and quickly found her passion in beauty therapy. Specialising in advanced laser treatments, LVL lashes and cutting-edge facials, Hannah's keen eye for detail and dedication to learning keep her at the forefront of the latest techniques.

A familiar face at Hilltop since 1995, Vanessa brings warmth and care to our reception area. Her return on a part-time basis has rekindled joy for clients, recalling her friendly demeanour and exceptional service. Beyond Hilltop, she is a devoted mother of three and an advocate for equality — an invaluable part of our team.
